Now being served in many coffee shops, the Turmeric latte is becoming a super trendy and super healthy hot drink. So, what’s all the fuss about? What’s so great about Turmeric?
Turmeric contains Curcumin, an antioxidant that gives it its bright yellow colour contains potent anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and gastrointestinal heath properties which have even been linked to the prevention of cancer cell growth and proven to help conditions such as arthritis, asthma, eczema and much more!
Try the recipe below:
Ingredients:(makes one mug full!)
2 tsp Turmeric Powder
1/4 tsp Ginger
1/2 tsp Black pepper
A mug of Milk (You can use almond milk, oat milk or any of your favourites!)
Honey or maple syrup if vegan (to taste)
1/4 tsp Vanilla essence or half a pod
To start, we made a paste out of the turmeric, black pepper, vanilla and ginger with a small amount of milk so that when you add it all, it combines easily. Wondering why black pepper is involved in this recipe? Well allegedly, mixing turmeric with black pepper allows your body to absorb the turmeric benefits more efficiently!
Heat the milk in a pan on the hob until warm-ish, then mix in the paste with a whisk until you have made until fully combined. Once combined, add the mix back into the pan and whisk vigorously whilst adding other ingredients. To get that ‘oh so delicious’ frothy top, you can use a hand held milk frother or an electric frother. Once frothed, add into a mug and sprinkle with turmeric on the top for an Instagram finish!
